What matters more: being right, or getting what you really want - expansion? I was, and still occasionally am to a certain extent, a stubborn, type-A, ass. Then it hit me… What I want isn't to be right in an argument with my wife, a business partner, or a client. What I wanted was peace and expansion.
When I realized this, I stopped looking at my fights with my wife as a battle I had to win. I looked at them as an opportunity for us to grow and expand. I started focusing on what was best for us in the long run, not what was best for me in the short term. The result? We fought less. We expand and grow together. I'm happier and more at peace with myself than ever.
Don't focus on the short term results that are driven by ego. Focus on the long-term results that you demand for your life.
