The dance industry discussion continues with the beautiful ballerina Kayla Giard.
We discuss how some dance Mom’s and some dance teachers and choreographers find it perfectly ok to secretly drink alcohol during the competitions while tending to the children. We talk about how we had teachers at Prestige Dance and Performing Arts Centre that would keep alcohol in the glove compartment of their car and take drink and smoking breaks between classes, yet they are looked upon as amazing influences on children.
The dance competition discussion continues with how expensive dance competitions are. We discuss the severe double standard in the industry and how confusing it is that some male dance teachers and choreographers can post nude photos on social media, smoke pot, offer drugs to the teen students and be looked at as heroes, but how Marcella was personally attacked because her family owns a lingerie business. Kayla then shares a recent incident at a dance competition, where catty dance parents found it appropriate to make fun of Prestige Dance closing, calling the studio trashy, attacking the owners, teachers and everyone that was part of the studio and saying how happy they were that it was closed. Kayla was horrified and only felt pity for them for harboring such a mean spirit. We conclude the show with the hope and wish that people need to be kinder to each other and judge less.
