Vanessa Gomez - beautiful, little but fierce powerhouse is brave enough to tell us about her traumatic experience when she got raped when she was 18 years old.
It happened after a night of partying and she never told anyone about it until the "ME TOO" movement, when she felt brave enough to speak out.
She had to come to terms with taking responsibility for her life and that has pushed her towards success.
She is a big believer in "The rape is not your responsibility but healing from it is." She used to feel a lot of guilt and shame that she was the victim of rape.
Then we discuss that there are different levels of rape - always when it is not consensual, but that it can happen during drugs and alcohol induced situations when someone
is passed out or when someone forces you violently.
We are all very passionate about using Vanessa's traumatic experience to teach others and especially young girls to not put themselves in those situations to try to avoid
what happened to Vanessa.
Cruz is very passionate about that people should be able to feel safe passing out at a friends house.
Vanessa believes in being raw and honest and tells us that she had taken GHB which is the date rape drug and she was not aware what was happening.
She says it should have never happened to her but she is glad that it did because it grew her into a person that now wants to help little girls and boys that have been sexually trafficked.
Vanessa grew up in a very strict household where she didn't have any breathing room and it caused her to rebel - she just wanted to rebel against all authority.
She talks about dating someone that helped her a lot and taught her health and wellness, meditation and mental clarity and being in close contact with God. That is when her life really changed.
Vanessa's connection with God has pushed her through the worst of times.
