We start the show off discussing the recent suicides by hanging of Kate Spade, Anthony Bourdain, the sister of the Queen of the Netherlands. Valerie and Gabrielle discuss how their lives have been changed and traumatized by their family members who committed suicide by hanging. We encourage everyone to download the Colombia Suicide Prevention Questions and use the Severity Ratings Scale for any loved ones you are concerned about. Valerie tells us about being suicidal herself these last few weeks. We wish people would reach out more and check on people. Marcella gets very strong about people practicing more human kindness and not to be so cruel.
We are baffled by a very hurtful event that occurred once again in the dance world. A going away party was being planned by adults for one of Marcella’s best friends and our former teacher of Prestige Dance and Performing Arts Centre. Marcella, Gabrielle and several children including our little Jolee were purposefully left out and not invited, causing unnecessary heartache. Pictures plastered all over social media that caused especially the children who were left out severe pain. As a teacher that was being honored as a mentor at this said party we would have hoped that she would have reached out to the children that were left out and asked them to do something with her separately, or insisted that all were invited.
Lots of Dance parents have a history of being cruel and unkind to children so it was not a surprise when Valerie told us about how her daughter finally opening up about how she was always left out while dancing at the studio too. Valerie apologized to her and told her ” I am so sorry that these parents viewed you through me and shunned you.” ADULTS PLEASE BE KIND TO CHILDREN. We continue our talk about people being evil, unkind and cruel when we discuss the tragic drowning death of Bode Miller’s 19 month old daughter. People were attacking those poor parents with outrageous, disgusting comments.
