What is YOUR foundation? What do you fall back on in times of trouble?
Guest speaker, Emmanuel Adeyeye, shares a sharpening word about the importance of building your foundation on the rock that is the Word of God. He talks about the significance of walking in obedience to the voice of God.
Notes:
Matthew 7: 24-27 (NLT)
* In order to build a house, you have to start with the, the strength of the house is it’s foundation.
* In life we all fall back on our foundation we fall back on what we know, how we learn things, we fall back on the things we learn, how we learn thing.
WHAT DOES YOUR FOUNDATION LOOK LIKE?
* What you build your foundation on will determine the course of your life…..Determines how you see life, how you see others, how you see and feel about yourself.
* It is the word of God that’s going to keep you standing, the principles, the teaching, the leading of Holy Spirit that’s going to keep you.
* Sand represents; disunity, lack of order, unstable, go with the flow lifestyle and mentality
What happens when sand gets struck by lightning?
What happens when sand gets wet?
The consistency of sand is inconsistency and God doesn’t want you to have an inconsistent foundation.
* The word of God is a solid foundation
* the word of God doesn’t get struck by the power of lighting the word brings power like lighting ..
* The word of God doesn’t get wet and muddy like sand, the living Word walked on water
* Sandy foundations don’t need much to collapse
Your foundation isn’t always shifted by a massive trail and tribulation
* A small offense can destroy your foundation
* A little delay can leave you panicking with a sandy foundation
* Any tiny little not so forceful situation can hit you, and you’ll start sinking to a level God never intended you to be at.
How do you know what’s in our foundation?
• Your reflex your muscle memory shows me a lot about your foundation.
• When Esther was fell back on fasting for her entire nation of people
* Three Hebrew boys
3 things to know about foundations
1. Every foundation is taught (Matt 7:24)
* Who’s teaching you ? What classes are you signed up for?
* Add/drop into your foundation
* We are to be daily working on our foundation
* Your foundation is your responsibility; your spirit is your responsibility
* There are things you need to add into your life but there are somethings you need to take out.
2. Every foundation is tested (Matt 7: 27)
* This is such a subtle warning from Jesus. When, not if… Life ain’t easy - storm’s coming.
* Jesus said “I have the answers focus on me; focus on my spirit and everything I tell you”
3. Solid foundations are built on the word of God (Matt 7:26)
* Sad reality of this verse He isn’t talking about unbelievers, he talking to the body of Christ
* There are people sinking thinking they are standing on something solid.
* Sandy foundations lack faith… you need to increase your faith
Romans 10:17 - faith comes from hearing and hearing the word of God
* Jesus told us hearing the word isn’t enough
* Faith comes when you hear the word of God; faith stays when you live the word of God
* Don’t be hearers but also doers of the Word
* Faith without works is dead
* Faith and obedience are the active ingredients that solidifies your foundation in God
* Active your faith, you need a faith that is active
* “We are all microscopic cogs in God’s plan and our obedience is important”
* Obedience looks like being at the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing, with the right people, getting the right results, for the right reasons.
