In 1992, as a follow up to their hugely successful animated hits: Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, Disney released Aladdin: the story of an Arabian street urchin, who finds a magic lamp containing a genie, who helps the boy win the hand of Princess Jasmine and fly away on a magic carpet of love.
It was another smash hit thanks to the popularity of it’s main star: the Genie- voiced by Robin Williams
In 2012, after the success of The Lion King as a Broadway Musical, Disney turned the story of Aladdin into a live theatrical presentation
The National Tour of Aladdin is currently playing at ASU Gammage Auditorium through February 17.
