John Shapiro is a full time professor in Pratt Institute’s Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment, and its former chair. He was a partner in one of the region’s leading planning consultancies (formerly Phillips Preiss Shapiro Associates) , working most notably on the LISC-sponsored Comprehensive Community Revitalization Program (CCRP) in The Bronx. John has received over twenty New York City, New York State and national awards. He served a stint as the President of the New York Metro Chapter of the American Planning Association, spends his spare time working on a variety of pro bono projects, and considers himself an opinionated New Yorker.
