"When Louise James was aged just seven, she and her family crossed the Atlantic Ocean by boat to begin a new, self-sustainable life in the jungles of Colombia.
Thus started Irish-born Louise's love affair with the country. Idyllic as it may seem, it hasn't been without its tragedies. Her nephew was murdered by Farc guerillas in 2000.
Louise also explains to Brendan that while her current big-city lifestyle in Bogotá is quite removed from her upbringing on her mother's farm, she still retains a strong appreciation for that way of life.
*The song at the end of the podcast is Louise's latest recording, Chico Latino. You can listen to it here: http://bit.ly/2VF8GAM
