Ministers and Liberal MPs speak with reporters ahead of a caucus meeting on Parliament Hill. This is the Liberals' first caucus meeting since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his intention to step down as prime minister and Liberal leader once his party has chosen a new leader. 
Minister Dominic LeBlanc (finance, intergovernmental affairs) discusses his decision to not run for Liberal party leader, while Mélanie Joly (foreign affairs) and Jonathan Wilkinson (natural resources) reveal that they both continue to mull over the possibility of running for leadership of the party. LeBlanc and Joly also comment on the government’s approach to dealing U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s repeated threats to impose a 25 per cent import tariff on all products from Canada. 
Ministers Marc Miller (immigration), Jean-Yves Duclos (public services), Mark Holland (health), Steven Guilbeault (environment), Mary Ng (trade) and David McGuinty (public safety) as well as MPs Rob Oliphant, Kevin Lamoureux, Judy Sgro, Ken McDonald, Chris Bittle, Kody Blois, Patrick Weiler, Ben Carr, James Maloney and Sameer Zuberi face questions on the process for selecting the next party leader and on Trump’s ongoing tariff threats.
