Description

In Windsor, Ont., Liberal Leader Mark Carney proposes the creation of a new fund to protect Canada’s auto sector and “fortify the entire Canadian auto supply chain.” The $2-billion fund, which would provide aid to a sector directly impacted by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs, would also aim to help build more auto parts within Canada.
The Liberal leader faces questions from reporters on a CBC story that alleges that during his time at Brookfield Asset Management, Carney co-headed two green investment funds that were registered in a Bermuda tax haven.
Carney is also asked about naming the wrong school when discussing the 1989 Polytechnique massacre in Montreal. The Liberal leader mistakenly referred to the massacre as having occurred at Concordia University, in lieu of L’École Polytechnique.
