After his senseless murder in 1989, Yusuf Hawkins was memorialized in many Hip Hop songs. Muta’Ali’s first-rate documentary, Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklyn, acts as a time machine and sends the viewer hurtling back three decades to that fateful day.
The film has its cinematic premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival today at 2pm, and is currently available to view on HBO Max.
