It's about an officer-involved shooting in an area near Brimhall Road and Calloway Drive.
According to the Sheriff's Office, a welfare check turned into an exchange of gunfire with the suspect.
But, KCSO will not tell us whether the person shot is dead or alive.
17's Mikhala Armstrong reports. - It is already turning into a busy fire season for local firefighters...
As fires rage on across Kern County... including one northeast of Bakersfield. The so-called "Cow fire" started just after 11:30 yesterday morning along Highway 178 and Kern River Canyon Road.
It was actually two fires - about a mile apart.
Some 80 firefighters from multiple agencies fought the flames from the ground and the air.
Emergency crews were forced to close Highway 178 for most of the day, due to the hazards from the fire, falling rocks, and heavy equipment operating on the road.
One fire was quickly contained at two acres.
The second spread up the steep wall of the canyon.
At last check, that fire has burned 132 acres and is 60-percent contained.
As of this morning, the CHP page reports the highway is back open.
If you ask firefighters, they'll tell you fire season is year-round in California.
