17's Robert Price has the story. - A Kern County jury convicted a man of causing a crash while high on drugs, leaving three people dead. Jose De Jesus Velazquez-Gomez t-boned a car carrying three women headed to their farmworker jobs in Lamont.
The crash happened November 3 at the intersection of South Edison and Di Giorgio Roads.
Prosecutors said Velazquez-Gomez was impaired by methamphetamine at the time of the crash.
Jurors found him guilty of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, according to court records.
Velazquez-Gomez faces a life term in prison at his sentencing in July. - Two Columbian nationals are in custody this morning - accused of abducting a Delano woman and forcing her to withdraw thousands of dollars from her bank account.
