We have contacted the Kern County Sheriff's Office... but have not heard back. - a man is dead this morning and the driver who hit him, is accused of driving under the influence. It happened just after 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Oak and 24th Streets.
Police say the man was in the center divider of the road when a vehicle turning onto 24th street from Oak street ran over the divider...
Hitting the man and four other vehicles.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene...
Another driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver was arrested for DUI and was booked into the Kern County Jail.
The investigation into this crash is ongoing. - And an east Bakersfield home goes up in flames.

No word yet what led up to this fire. - The sound of fireworks were booming in the night sky across Kern County....
But, what goes up must come down - and there were dozens of small fires around town - likely caused by illegal fireworks.
Last night... many folks chose to safely enjoy Bakersfield's fireworks display at the Park at RiverWalk with a spectacular grande finale.
However, It was also the site ofa post-fireworks fire.
17's Rob Hagan has the details. - An update now on a search and rescue operation in the Kern River yesterday.
KCSO says the body of one of two people who were swept away in the river, has been found. The call came in just before one o'clock in the Sandy Flat area near Pearl Harbor Drive and Keysville Road.
Officials say a man and a woman -- both in their 30's -- were swept away. The Kern County Sheriff's Office sent crews to the scene, along with kayaks and two helicopters.
KCSO says three hours later, search and rescue crews found the woman's body in the water near Keysville Beach.
They called off the search for the missing man at six o'clock yesterday evening, due to the heat.
Crews will be back at the river today to resume their search for him.
