His speech comes during the D-N-C delegate roll call tally where Governor Newsom will deliver the delegates that formally clinch the Democratic nomination for president for fellow Californian and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Newsom and Harris have known each other for decades...Back to their days in San Francisco when Newsom served as mayor and Harris as district attorney.
Harris -- who has also served as California attorney general and represented California in the U-S Senate -- will accept the nomination on Thursday. - While this convention is expected to be more of a celebration, many are drawing parallels to the DNC of 1968 -- remembered for the disorderly last-minute candidate nomination... fist fights on the convention floor... and violent protests against the Vietnam War.
17's Jenny Huh introduces us to a local man who attended that convention 56 years ago. - This morning -- county leaders will hold a community forum regarding interactions between local law enforcement and Immigration and Customs Enforcement--or ICE.
That's in accordance with a state law known as the Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds Act--or the TRUTH Act, which requires local law enforcement agencies to report when they've given ICE access to individuals in custody once a year.
