Description

Katy and Jack are off this week, so Darren presents a very special “Best Of Southpaws,” which includes a brand new Hammer Time segment. On this episode:

Hammer Time: Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) says no to the Build Back Better program. When will an actual progressive primary him?

From July 22, 2015: Darren and Joe Elder were in the studio with Nate Kettle. On the phone were Jim Goerner and union official Buck Geno. The group was talking about the efforts in Michigan to have legislative districts redrawn every 10 years by a citizens committee instead of the party in power. This led to Joe and Nate getting into a shouting match about whether the Democrats were any better than the Republicans. In this clip, Joe correctly predicted that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) would be screwed out of the 2016 Democratic Presidential Primary.

From March 23, 2016: April Crowe, Jim Chase, and Stan Ward joined Darren in studio. Darren and Jim are angry about the Democratic Party shenanigans in the Arizona primary, so much so that Darren announced that he left the Democratic Party and that Democrats “would never get another g*ddamn penny” from him. Darren and April then got into a heated argument about independent voters being shut out of the primary process, even though 40% of voters are independent. Darren was so mad that he left the studio for the remainder of the show.

From July 14, 2017: KJ Millo joined Darren and Jack Prince. The trio discussed political fatigue, authoritarianism, organizing protests, the failures of the Democratic Party, and the lack of consequences for Trump and his supporters over comments they made.

From October 29, 2021: A rare blooper clip as Darren, Katy Steele, and Jack Prince talk about the shenanigans at the Hazard High School homecoming rally in Kentucky. Katy was a little distracted during the recording.
