Today, Dr. Steven Wilkinson discusses the concept of Mindfulness, which is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. He will dive deeper into what mindfulness is, how it is practiced, and the benefits.
Dr. Wilkinson is the Interim Chair and Program Director for our Doctor of Physical Therapy program and he uses Mindfulness in the classroom as a means to help students with their studies and as a way to combat the stressors of graduate school, but also as a tool they will be able to use with their future patients.
