Darrell Wood of the Virginia Equine Alliance, is this week's guest on the Harness Racing Alumni Show. The Alliance represents both thoroughbred and standardbred racing in the state of Virginia. Darrell talks about the current meet at Shenandoah Downs that closes on October 27th. It is highlighted by the Virginia Breeders Championship races offering $700 thousand in purses. He talks about how they promote their tracks which draws the local college kids that come out to the races. Wood talks about the charitable work that they do in financially supporting the equine retirement organizations and the fine support that Virginia racing receives from both Governor Glenn Youngkins and his wife Suzanne.
