The Phillies farm system has had an interesting year. From Clearwater to playoff-bound Lehigh Valley, the Phillies minor league teams and talent within them continues to forge ahead while us fans have been able to "scout" the prospects looking to make it up to the big leagues. This week, Pat McCarthy, broadcaster for the Phillies Triple-A affiliate Lehigh Valley IronPigs, joined us for discussion on what's happened with the farm system over this season. It's a great interview!
But first, on the Brief News & Views segment:
1. Eagles Talk: what Alshon Jeffery's injury means for the offense, and will Carson Wentz start Week 1 vs. the Falcons? (7:45)
2. Fantasy football talk with Anthony Cervino from Fantasy Pros and Gridiron Experts. (18:05)
3. Markelle Fultz is apparently shooting the ball! (32:00)
Then we get into our Up or Down segment where we briefly analyze Philly sports figures to determine if their needle is moving up or down. (39:10)
What we're throwing down on the Table this week is an in-depth interview filled with Phillies farm system analysis with Pat McCarthy who's the broadcaster for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. First, Pat took us through the playoff-bound Lehigh Valley IronPigs and how the Phillies September call-ups might affect the Pigs. From there, we dove into J.P. Crawford's disappointing season and if he'll get back to Philly. Pat also took us through the up and down season Aaron Altherr has had. We also discussed the Phillies with one month left remaining in the regular season and whether or not players like Wilson Ramos and Jose Bautista can actually make a difference in September. All of this an much more this week on the Table! (49:50)
