The Phillies Farm System Up Close (PST Show #310)
While the Philadelphia Phillies are having an exciting and interesting start to their season, we cannot forget about their farm system and the talent brewing there. To get into some of the farm system talent and storylines, we brought our friend of the show, Mike Ventola, Manager of Media Relations with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, onto the show this week. We discussed which talent might and might not be rising up the ranks and what the system means to this Phillies organization in the future.
But first, we got into a discussion about the upcoming NFL and Eagles Draft, talent and positions the Birds should be looking to acquire within the first two days. (3:45)
Then we dove into how Brett Brown is coaching this Sixers team throughout the playoffs and how he's essentially taken on a more pivotal role as the season has progressed. (12:40)
This week on the Highbrow Segment, we reflected on an article written by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler about how many NFL Draft prospects and their prospective agents are spending tens of thousands of dollars in the months leading up to draft day. (23:25)
On our Lowbrow Segment this week, it's part two of our best pre-corporate sports stadiums and arenas list. (33:30)
What we're throwing down on the Table this week is an in-depth interview with Mike Ventola, who has been a fixture within the Phillies minor league system for years, where we talked about minor league prospects and how the farm looks here in 2019. We first discussed how the Phillies system has grown over the year, and then we dove into the farm system talent where we discussed Adonis Medina, Mickey Moniak and Alec Bohm. We also talked about what Nick Pivetta will need to do in Lehigh Valley to make his way back to Philly. Plus, much more minor league and farm system talk this week. It's a great interview you won't want to miss! (52:10)
