To ring in the new year we are bringing you a special mini-series where we look at Big Swings! The first of witch is Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, a 2015 film starring Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevine. "Big Swings" are the huge risks that come around every few years. They are usually flawed but incredibly interesting films. Almost always a huge failure at the box office.
They fulfill the following criteria;
1) Hugely imaginative
2) Massive special effects budget
3) Impressive worldbuilding
4) Kinda bonkers
5) Not part of an existing film franchise
