On July 4, 2004, Beth James and her three kids were driving home from a gathering when their vehicle was struck by two cars that were drag racing through the streets. Beth’s youngest daughter Liza ended up with severe brain damage from the crash. Being a long time runner and triathlete, Beth and Liza created Team Liza and, after finishing Ironman Wisconsin last fall, the two will be on Kona to try and become the first mother/daughter duo to finish the Ironman World Championship on October 12th.
