Michael Perfetti is the Southwest Regional Director of the Steel Valley
Authority/Strategic Early Warning Network for Layoff Aversion (SEWN). SEWN
provides cost free turnaround consulting services for manufacturing companies
located in Pennsylvania. It is committed to sustaining the Commonwealth’s
manufacturing base to ultimately avert shutdowns and layoffs. Michael is
responsible for covering 11 counties for SEWN, which has a total of 5 offices
that make its services available throughout Pennsylvania.
This past year marked the group’s 35th Anniversary. It was born out of the
collapse of the steel industry in the mid-eighties, to provide support to the local
communities and businesses in the supply chain that were most impacted.
Since its inception, it has consulted with well over 1,200 manufacturing firms
and has saved over 30,000 manufacturing jobs. Just over the past 5 years, its
