A third of the workforce is 50 or older, and company closings and layoffs related to this pandemic have had a major effect on this demographic. Almost 5 million workers over the age of 55 work in retail sales positions, while an additional 1 million do so in the food preparation or retail industries;sectors that have stopped to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. Additionally, many older adults have not had a need to write a resume for many years and are concerned that a potential employer may be biased against them.
