Even though the Flyers season is over (mercifully), we still have hockey to watch and follow within the Flyers organization. The Lehigh Valley Phantoms head to the playoffs this week as they seek their first Calder Cup Championship. Tony Androckitis, writer and contributor at Highland Park Hockey, joined us this week to discuss the upcoming playoffs and what to expect on the ice from the Phantoms.
But first, on the Brief News & Views segment:
1. Carson Wentz, Howie Roseman and Joe Douglas talked to the media. (6:30)
2. Thoughts on Aaron Hernandez's suicide. (18:35)
3. Phillies news and notes: the bullpen, Franco's troubles, the left field and stats. (23:40)
4. TAKE IT or LEAVE IT: Giving Phillies pitcher Jeremy Hellickson a multi-year deal. (35:15)
Our Listener Feedback this week focused on the show's new theme song, worst part about a live sporting event, and the Phillies bullpen needing a new pitching coach. (40:05)
And then what we're throwing down on the Table is a discussion with Tony Adrockitis from Highland Park Hockey. Tony has been covering the now playoff-bound Lehigh Valley Phantoms for three years and continues to see the growth and development of many future Flyers players. We asked about the excitement surrounding the PPL Center as the playoffs are here and what pervious rivalries mean to this matchup. Of course, with star goalie Anthony Stolarz out of commission, we discussed at length what now happens with the goalie situation. Scott Gordon's role and leadership was a topic of discussion as well as who Ron Hextall will be looking at during this playoff series. Plus much more Phantoms playoff talk this week! (48:45)
We'd enjoy hearing from you! Call 610-255-7198 and leave us a message to play on the show about anything Philly sports related.
