Martin Luther King once said, It's the silence of our friends that we will remember. How many white churches and multi cultural churches have stayed silent on black issues? Yet love the experience and feeling when black people worship in those houses? There is a fetish for black bodies but not a desire to equal the playing field or even fix what is broken in the community of white Christians that don't see the problem. At this time we have people proclaiming that their ministries aren't like that, however they are the same ones that never addressed issues of racism then and stay vague about it now in the face of nationalism masked as righteousness. It's this silence that is complicit in what black congregants see in their communities when they leave those houses of worship. They finance their own oppression when those leaders and pastors stay silent, but yet say my ministry isn't like that.
