I just finished reading Issue 50 of the Christian History Magazine, entitled The American Revolution. Christianity’s overlooked role in the bold venture to gain independence. It was a great read. I have always struggled reconciling the War of Independence with Romans chapter 9 where Paul exhorts us to submit ourselves to authority. What I found reading through this magazine was that I was not alone in my discomfort. I would like to read to you over the next few episodes a few selections from the issue. The first article is my favorite section: Did you Know? This one is written by Cassandra Niemczyk. The other is a collection of three short biographies of people who influenced these times. Two names you will recognize, one will really surprise you.
