Moms for Christ

Hi everyone! This is Seritta and welcome to the Moms for Christ podcast. The Bible tells the story of Hannah, a woman who was not able to conceive children. She prayed with persistence to the Lord, put in all her hope in Him and the Lord answered her prayers and gave her a son, Samuel. While exalting the Lord in song for her miracle, she says in 1 Samuel 2 verse 8, “He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor.”

When God answered Hannah's prayer, He showed her that He honored her faith and devotion to Him. This verse in Hannah’s song describes the esteem, love, and respect God has for His people that remain loyal to Him no matter what.

“We become believers who have their full identity in Christ” One thing I love about this story is that Hannah knew who she was in the Lord. She was persistent and couldn't live her life any other way and God honored her for it. She knew God could show His favor on her and allow her to have a child of her own. She goes even a step further and when she received her son, she made sure to still dedicate him back to the Lord. When our minds and hearts are fully set on Him, options that present itself as convenient and practical will always be second rate because God's plan will forever be the most perfect. We become believers who have their full identity in Christ.

My children have a story they like about a helicopter who didn't know he was a helicopter. He thought he was a boat and almost drowned, he thought he was a car and crashed into another car, and when he saw that he could fly, he thought he was a bird! A robin bird finally told him the truth: that he was a helicopter and finally the helicopter was happy. At this point, I tell my kids who they are and they're so confident, by the next time I ask them, they loudly say their name and “I'm a little girl! I'm a princess for Jesus!” I encourage what they learned in children's church: that they’re special to God and were chosen by Him. They belong to God. You can see confidence pour out of the children because of their certainty of who they are and where they belong. God can guide us as parents and be the fulfillment of all our needs.

“And if we rely on the one true God, He lifts us back up because we are pleasing in His eyes.” I love the story of Hannah because she didn't just say she loved God. She showed God her loyalty. And if we rely on the one true God, He lifts us back up because we are pleasing in His eyes. When we carry His word in our hearts and vow to live it out, calling on the Lord every step of the way, we are viewed as royalty to our God,
