Matthew Light is a former American football offensive tackle who spent his entire 11-year career playing for the New England Patriots. He played college football for Purdue University. He was picked by the Patriots in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft after helping get Purdue to their first Rose Bowl appearance since 1967. Matt is a 3x Super Bowl Champion, a 3x Pro Bowler, a 1x first team all-pro. He is a member of the Patriots all-2000’s team, 50th Anniversary team, and a member of the Pats Hall of Fame.
In addition to Matt’s athletic achievements, he has also received a number of high-profile awards for his charity work. Matt received the third New England Patriots Ron Burton Community Service Award in 2005, and in 2008, he was presented the President’s Volunteer Service Award for his outstanding work in the community by the Bush administration.
In addition, he has been named the Pop Warner Humanitarian Award winner, the Gridiron Club’s “Man of the Year”, he’s a member of Purdue University’s 2013 Athletic Hall of Fame, and was named All Sports United’s Humanitarian Award recipient, and was honored with a Boston Business Journal “40 Under 40” recipient for being a leader making a philanthropic difference in the Boston community.
Matt’s philanthropic work is done through the Light Foundation, established by Matt and his wife Susie in 2001. The Light Foundation exists to give at-risk kids a better chance at leading healthy lives by using the great outdoors to learn and grow.
