Description

How can peace be established in the church of Rome that is so diverse and different? That is Paul's agenda in the book of Romans. Jewish and Gentile believers were at loggerheads over what made them the people of God, and who was 'in' and who was 'out'. Each group sought to assert the privileges and power of their specific identity markers, leading to disunity and destruction. What did Paul offer as basis for the church's identity and what orientation was necessary to bring about peace? What lessons can the 21st century church learn from this crisis?
