When we have difficulty understanding certain passages of Scripture, many times it is due to our misunderstanding of other portions of Scripture. When we learn to think of a passage with a wrong interpretation, it clouds our ability to understand other portions of Scripture. The believer's relationship to the law is described in many portions of the New Testament, when we properly understand this, then and only then can we properly apply the Word of God in our lives entire.
