Rickey Gene Wright – Is a true Warrior! He’s a Texan and Americana singer-songwriter. He writes and sings acoustic ballads that travel down the road between Folk and Country Music. If you listen to his music you may notice influences from Bluegrass, Acoustic Blues, and those Hymns/ Inspirational Music. Along with his duet partner, Denise Owen, Rickey Gene has three released albums, singles and on the ongoing fourth album in process. Rickey Gene has been involved in numerous music adventures including the “Country Opry Circuit” in Texas and Oklahoma in the 1980’s when he first received recognition as a songwriter with his song titled “Frank and Jesse James”. In 1990’s he led contemporary worship music at two different churches for over 15 years writing songs, the most notable “Your Mercy Is A Blessing” recorded by a worship leader who currently leads worship at a church in Austin, Texas. He is also an experienced networker through which he became friends with a Grammy award winning musician, producer and recording engineer Mr. Brad Davis who has worked with Rickey on a number of projects and become one of his biggest fans. Finally, Rickey’s networking led to our relationship and him writing and recording the theme song you hear every week “It’s Not The Gettin’ There” for this podcast.
