A nearly empty jelly dish sparked a thought in hymnist Grant Tullar, sending him off to the piano to write words and music to a hymn. The hymn didn't go over as well as he'd hoped at the evangelistic meeting he was part of that evening, and he resolved to revise it. The next morning, he received a packet of poems from Mrs. Carrie Breck, who often sent her many poems to hymn composers. In it, he found "Face to Face With Christ My Savior," and he realized it fit perfectly with the music he'd written the night before.
