Dr. Roxana Acosta is currently a medical intern at Centro Medico de Especialidades in Ciudad Juarez, She speaks of the devastation of being on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic. "We were told that if we wore face masks, we would create panic and chaos. We were kept in the dark about a lot of the suspect and/or positive cases.
UPDATE: Dr. Acosta returned to her hospital on June 1st. In her words, “The exact number of cases is still a bit tricky. Because unless we have the test results we sometimes just have suspect cases. But at least they are being a little better about keeping us away from the suspect or positive cases.”
“We get one face mask every three days, that’s all they give us, but we are allowed to wear our own if we have it (goggles, face shields, face masks, etc ). “
