Description

Brock McGillis is a former pro hockey goalie who spent time with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League, the Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League, as well as Concordia University Stingers men’s hockey team. McGillis is also the first pro hockey player to come out as gay. McGillis, along with former Montreal Impact midfielder David Testo, and speedskater Anastasia Buscis were the subjects in a Canadian documentary film called Standing On The Line. The film looks at the issues of homophobia in the world of sport. He joins us to break down the issues of conformity within sports, toxic masculinity, and the patriarchy, and shares his story.
