27 year old Latin King gang member Josh Vallum was together with his 17 year old girlfriend Mercedes Williamson for 8 1/2 months. The relationship was sexually intimate nearly the who time. Once Josh's gang friends found out Mercedes was a trans girl, Josh claimed he had no idea. He was told to take care of the situation or be killed by the gang. Josh took Mercedes life. In court he claimed trans panic. It was the first trial in the U.S. tried as a hate crime against trans person using the Matt Shepard/James Byrd law.
