THE DOUBLE MINDED LIFE

James 1:5–8

There’s something unsettling about not knowing what to do. You pray. You think. You weigh every option. But no matter how hard you try, you still feel torn between two thoughts, two paths, two voices. One day you’re full of confidence, the next you’re drowning in doubt. That’s the reality of the double minded life — one moment trusting, the next second wavering.

James doesn’t mince words here. He describes the person who doubts as “a wave of the sea, driven with the wind and tossed.” That’s a vivid picture — something being pushed around by forces outside of itself. It has no anchor. It has no direction. And worst of all, it has no peace.
