With Acadian roots stretching deep into the Atlantic, Paul Essiembre was born and raised speaking both official languages in Canada’s east coast province of New Brunswick.
Classically trained in theatre, and with a body of work spanning thirty years, Paul has played villains and heroes in more than 60 plays at most major theatres across Canada, including four seasons at the Stratford Festival and several productions with Mirvish in Toronto.
He has been equally prolific in film and television, playing leading and supporting roles in several TV movies such as Hallmark favourites The Christmas Heart, Under the Autumn Moon, Love in Design, and Sweet Autumn, episodic TV Less Than Kind, Suits, and three seasons of the hit CBC series Burden of Truth and feature films Stand! The Musical and The Ice Road.
Paul is also an impressive voice artist, having performed dozens of cartoon voices, perhaps most recognizably in the title role of the Marvel/Fox TV animated series Silver Surfer, and ‘Gil Gripper’ in the hugely popular children’s series Rescue Heroes for Teletoon/CBS. He has voiced over 230 television and radio commercials in Canada and has narrated several documentaries for the likes of National Geographic and Discovery Canada (Journey To The Edge Of The Universe and Earth: The Making Of A Planet).
Paul and his family currently live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. (Cited Source CBC Media Centre)
