The Federal Government announced the following changes to mortgages in September 2024.
- CMHC Insured mortgage cap raised to $1.5M from $1M.
- First time home buyers and purchasers of new construction homes can access 30 year
amortization periods starting December 15th 2024. - A mortgage renewal will no longer need a stress test when changing lenders.
- Nearly 4 million new homes to be built.
