When most people think of trauma, they picture a military veteran or a sexual assault survivor. But in reality, trauma is so much more than that. Enter little T trauma; which is trauma that isn’t life-threatening, but does threaten the self in some way.
It can be hard to recognize little T trauma, and as a result, many people are misdiagnosed and never end up addressing the root of their distress, which is the trauma.
Healing from little T trauma involves a lot of work on toxic shame, self-compassion, and the stress response, but it’s absolutely possible.
