Whether you have been listening to Still With You for only a few minutes or several months, then you know my beliefs of how education and global awareness should be highly valued. In support of this belief, I am honored to welcome an amazing friend, Vanessa Mayes, Executive Director of Global Corner, International Learning Center. She is passionate about changing the lives and sound minds of elementary school students by bringing global education into the classroom.
Vanessa was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and has traveled extensively throughout her life. She was the Director of International Admissions at the University of Tampa prior to teaching Spanish to elementary and middle school students at the Montessori School of Pensacola. She knows the value of expanding horizons for young children and the impact it has on the entire community. When she first heard about The Global Corner many years ago, she knew immediately that she wanted to be a part of “Bringing the World to Life – One Child at a Time.”
