You really can learn a lot from talking to crazy people on the street--that's what the professor told the class, making particular eye contact with me, because I was special. A week or so later, a strange woman wandered into the NYU Kimmel center and had a long, rambling conversation with me about her history as a playwrighting student at Tisch School of the Arts. Despite being conditioned to NEVER be late to acting class or rehearsal at school, this mysterious operative posessed not only the power to get past security, but the techniques in power of suggestion to make me sit and listen to her for over an hour and arrive late to a run through of the Kathleen Turner Student showcase. Was I primed by a CIA or Scientology psychological black ops designed to sabotage my rehearsal that day in a program to thwart my chances at making it out of Tisch with an agent?
