Description

Due to the Public Sector’s role in executing plans, policies, and programmes of the government, there is a need for public accountability and trust between the public sector and the citizens whose lives and livelihoods are impacted by its activities.

Civil society, the media, and the private sector, have roles and responsibilities in addition to those of the government in promoting openness and transparency in the public sector. Initiatives such as the Aig-Imoukhuede Public Sector Performance Index are taking an innovative approach to promoting accountability by measuring public sector performance while fostering citizen engagement for institutional improvement.
