So often today we hear catchy slogans like "Build Back Better" or "Make America Great Again," yet they completely disregard the true foundations for building better or making greatness. What does it take to build a community? A village? Great children? I provide the essentials in this book review of some key testimonial passages from "They Came Searching: How Blacks Sought the Promised Land in Tulsa" by Eddie Faye Gates. The book is about the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 and has interviews with many of the actual black survivors and children of the survivors. These blacks lived through horrific times, yet a common theme emerges built on love, respect, education, spirituality, discipline, hard work, and a village raising children...it's really an amazing story of one of the greatest black communities in the history of the United States. If you want to build a great community no matter what the color or race--here's how it was done and how it needs to be done again...if...you want to "Build Back Better" and if you want to "Make America Great Again." #thelongroad
