July 11, 2020 I learned I was expecting my first child. My heart was filled with happiness although I excited to start my family, I was also sad and afraid. The mortality rate of Black women dying during childbirth is high in America. So even though I was happy to be expecting I was afraid I wouldn’t survive childbirth. My fear of dying during childbirth, elections, racism, covid, etc. caused me to become depressed. Here is my experience of being pregnant during a pandemic.
