Belfazaar Ashantison was a sickly child who generally got pushed around. During a particularly vicious incident where he protected his sister, he tasted human blood for the first time.This situationled to a family friend recognizing her in him and she became his mentor into Vampirism. Vampires are not what literature or media would have us believe. Often referred to as Papa Zaar (a title relating to his status as a Voodoo Priest), he works with the occult and the New Orleans community writ large; often engaged in charitable work and large community events.
