Kirstin addresses an issue that she has been seeing on the rise in her practice and with athletes around her. Stress, anxiety, and anxious symptoms, have been increasing, especially over the last month. Collectively there have been more cases of mental and emotional health concerns over the past 18 months. We went from seeing anxiety in 1 in 10 people to 4 in 10. But what role can sport play? Does it seem to help? And what about the athletes that are throwing up some inspiring performances? How have they been able to do that? In this episode, Kirstin looks at how sport can play a role in lowering anxiety. We also touch on ways to acknowledge what we are going through so that we can make a choice to either stay where we are or move forward. But first, we must be aware. Kirstin reflects on how Triathlon and training has helped her stay focused. She made a goal early on to be stronger on the other side.
