Well, it had to happen sometime. Tony Khan announced on September 2, 2023, hours before AEW Collision and the WWE Payback Premium Live Event, that CM Punk was released from his agreements as is no longer with All Elite Wrestling. The firing of Phil Brooks came after another altercation that happened backstage at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium involving Jack Perry, but was likely a culmination of different factors that stemmed from events from 2022 involving The Elite stable.
