This week I have been at the Rural Health Association of Tennessee annual conference in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This organization is dedicated to improving the health of rural Tennesseans and its’ members are healthcare providers, school health professionals, and many others who want to improve access to care and health outcomes for rural residents. Some of the priorities for rural health are access to care, special populations, mental/behavioral health, oral health, health professions workforce development, health promotion/disease prevention, substance abuse, rural emergency preparedness, and social determinants of health.
