Our conversation centered around dialogue and its importance and Dr. Margaret Newman’s theory – Health as Expanding Consciousness (HEC). Dr. Newman was a nursing theorist who is an alumna of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing, and a former faculty member of the College of Nursing. The UTHSC CON recently dedicated the Dr. Margaret A. Newman Center for Nursing Theory. Our discussion on this episode delves into the HEC theory, the future direction of the Center, and a bit about Dr. Newman herself.
